Director of Construction

The Director of Construction reports to the CEO at the Rally Office based in Sherwood Park. This role will oversee large-scale projects and capital improvements. The successful candidate will collaborate with the project planning team to plan the scope and design of projects, develop a budget and timeline, and select vendors and crew members. This role travels to worksites to ensure production is proceeding with efficiency and meeting deadlines.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:
  • Oversee and manage all construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Develop and implement construction strategies, policies, and procedures to optimize efficiency and productivity.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to review project plans, specifications, and drawings, providing expert advice and guidance.
  • Monitor and evaluate construction progress, identifying and resolving any issues or delays that may arise.
  • Conduct regular site visits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations and construction standards.
  • Document the status of each project phase and provide updates/reports to upper management.
  • Manage and coordinate the procurement of construction materials, equipment, and subcontractors, negotiating contracts and agreements as necessary.
  • Lead and supervise a team of construction professionals, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Prepare and present regular reports to senior management, highlighting project status, risks, and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as finance and legal, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and contractual obligations.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements.
  • Select the most efficient and cost-effective vendors.
  • Oversee construction to ensure production meets deadlines within budget guidelines.
  • Document status updates and process reports for upper management.
  • Review the closing of each project to ensure structures meet client specifications.


Qualifications - Education, Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management or a related field preferred.
  • 10+ years of construction experience with at least five years in supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, codes, and regulations.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale construction projects from inception to completion.
  • Expertise with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Soft skills – such as communication, multi tasking, shifting priorities, meeting deadlines, leading, managing, coaching, organizing, customer services, teamwork, collaboration, etc.
